BEST PRACTICES
Here’s how to make the most of your self-hypnosis recording
Self-hypnosis is a powerful practice that holds the potential for true tranceformation.
I invite you to gift yourself the time and space you deserve to enjoy a deeply nourishing experience.
-
All you need for this practice is some time, a quiet space, and an open mind.
For the most nourishing experience, I would recommend:
choose a spot where you feel safe and comfortable
get cosy with pillows, bolsters, blankets
use headphones rather than playing the recording through a speaker
You can choose to do this practice sitting up or lying down, but most prefer to lie down to relax better.
-
How exciting! Welcome to the world of hypnotic tranceformation, lovely. ✨
In this guided self-hypnosis practice, I am leading you through a short reset ritual.
Guided self-hypnosis practices feel kind of similar to very deep guided meditations.
We work with techniques like:
visualisation
positive affirmations and suggestions
relaxation protocols
nervous system regulation techniques
If you’re curious, I invite you to go have a listen and experience it for yourself!

I know there are (sadly!) far too many myths and misconceptions surrounding hypnosis, so let me shed some light on this:
Yes, you are absolutely conscious and aware during hypnosis.
This is your practice, your process, and you are in control the whole time.
It’s really important to me that you have all the information you need to feel safe and fully enjoy this practice, so let me share a little bit more with you:
What happens when we work with hypnosis is that we shift into a different brainwave state. This is called a trance.
Trance states are completely natural states of being that we experience every day — for example, when we are deeply immersed in a book, movie, or daydream. They are nothing scary or foreign, you actually experience them all the time!
The difference is: With hypnotherapy, we purposefully utilise this trance state to create positive change. We’re working with different therapeutic techniques to reprogramme your subconscious.
As a hypnotherapist, I am here to show you ways of accessing this deeply relaxing trance state easily and to guide you through therapeutic processes.
I am simply offering you guidance — and you can choose to follow it or not. It’s always your choice.
There’s no brainwashing or mind control involved, don’t worry.
-
Not at all!
With the way hypnosis is portrayed in movies and stage shows, we often have a certain image of what hypnosis “should” look or feel like.
The reality is: Everyone experiences hypnosis differently, and your experience will likely change with your practice.
There is no such thing as the one “hypnotised” feeling.
But there are some common experiences you might relate to:
you feel deeply relaxed in your body, perhaps there is a pleasant heaviness or a floating sensation
you find your mind wandering and like you are drifting in and out of a dream state
you’re still conscious, but the world around you fades into the background (like when you watch a good movie)
you notice your body shifting into rest mode: breathing changing, heart rate slowing, maybe even muscle twitches or eye movement
you’re feeling detached from your body but at the same time deeply connected to yourself
when you land back from your practice, you feel deeply rested, as if you had a good nap
I’d love to hear what hypnosis feels like for you! Feel free to reach out and tell me about your experience. I always love to hear from you!

Hypnosis is a very gentle, very safe technique.
As trance is a natural state of being that we move in and out of in our everyday lives, there is little risk associated with practising (self-)hypnosis.
The most important thing is to only practise it when you can safely relax:
never listen to a self-hypnosis recording while driving, operating machinery, or doing anything that requires your full concentration
do not listen to this practice if you are feeling unsafe or uncomfortable to do so
self-hypnosis should never be used to replace professional medical or psychological care
Plus: If you are navigating certain health conditions such as psychiatric disorders, heart problems, a life-threatening disease, epilepsy, asthma, or diabetes, hypnotherapy may not always be recommended.
If you are uncertain if this is right for you, it is always best to check with your trusted medical professional.
